Proper Hours of Sleep


Sleep is a natural state of bodily rest observed in humans and other animals. It is distinguished from quiet wakefulness by a decreased ability to react to stimuli.

Age and condition Average amount of sleep per day:

1. Newborn
up to 18 hours

2. 1–12 months
14–18 hours

3. 1–3 years
12–15 hours

4. 3–5 years
11–13 hours

5. 5–12 years
9–11 hours

6. Adolescents
9–10 hours

7. Adults, including elderly
7–8 (+) hours

8. Pregnant women
8 (+) hours
It is very important to have proper sleep and follow the prescribed hours of sleep for various ages (above). This will ensure you good health and fight the bad causes of stress. Have a proper sleep always!
