There are two types on how to sterilize bottles for babies. These are:

1. Aseptic Method

Bottles, bottle caps and nipples are boiled in a kettle for 25 to 30 minutes. All utensils to be used for the formula preparation such as saucepan, mixing spoons and measuring cup are boiled or sterilized before use and these utensils should be used for no other purposes than formula preparation.

2. Terminal Sterilization

The formula is mixed in clean utensils and poured into clean bottles. Nipples are put in a place and then covered with paper, metal or glass caps. The filled bottles are place on rack partially submerged in water in a kettle. The kettle is then covered with and the bottles are allowed to boil in water for 25 minutes. They are then cooled in room temperature and placed in the refrigerator as soon as possible.
